The Leicester Longwool breed, is listed as critically rare.  Fleece is prized by hand-spinners and crafters for its curl, soft handle and lustrous beauty.  Fleece weight from 11-18 lbs., and can have a staple length up to 14" in 12 months growth.  Mature rams weight 200-300lbs. and ewes 150-200 lbs.  They are docile and easy to handle.  President George Washington was one of the progressive agriculturalists who imported and raised this breed.  (info from  the Leicester Longwool sheep breeders association).
